Behind the Scenes of Creating Our Candle Collection

Candles can create such an amazing ambiance for a room! From welcoming guests or creating a cozy feel in a room – there’s not really a replacement for the flicker and glow you get from a candle.
From Christmas to Birthday’s, Mother’s Day, and Teacher’s gifts, to an open house or housewarming, they make for such a great gift option! There’s such a shift in the atmosphere an amazing fragrance can have for a space, or using to enhance your next bubble bath!
Many years ago, it troubled me to find out how many chemicals are in the most commonly known candles. This was super discouraging because I had a favorite candle for each season, as I’m sure most people do!
From heavy metals to the petroleum byproduct, paraffin, inhaling these in an enclosed space can have many different negative side effects on our health.
With my experience as a Wellness Practitioner for 10 years, I saw many positive testimonies clients had from switching over to natural candle options. Some options include soy wax or beeswax, along with cotton wicks and a more natural base option.
Combining this education with my passion for design and property management, to be able to provide an elegant, safe solution for candles just is such a natural fit!
It was important for me to reach out to a fellow local Georgia company that shared natural and sustainability views. I was lucky enough to be referred to Rekindle out of Monroe, GA. This brings me such joy to be able to offer a product that supports not just one, but TWO Georgia businesses.
After sharing the vision of scents with the owner, Matt, we went from launching not just one candle to two pretty quickly. This of course only excited me further because it now was appropriate to need a name for the collection.
Once we got to the stage that our first samples were about to be shipped, I actually had plans to be at a BNB about 20 minutes away from his shop. It was the neatest experience because I got to meet Matt, share in some future vision and goals and was able to test the candles in a 1800 Farmhouse right away!
Within one week, I was able to visit the beautiful downtown of Monroe, GA and test additional fragrances to cultivate just the perfect scents we were going for.
Matt delivered the second round of scents and again, I tested them right away! I was blown away when we tested the second round of scents. They were exactly what I was imagining.
One was a vanilla and citrus fragrance, and another was a magnolia and orchid scent, which brought in sweet tones.
This birthed “The Garden City Collection” very first scents:
“Welcome Home” and “Sweet Magnolia."
Our graphic designer has also been busy at work with us on getting just the right label that was clean, classic, and timeless. It was such a fun process to collaborate on and I can only hope that many will feel the same way we do about the labels.
Next was getting the logistics set up for how we can sell these online and packaging. We chose the proper softwares for an ecommerce store, and it was so fun to look at beautiful ways to package a candle.
Since we wanted the packaging to be a fun experience, here is the style we chose for:

All in all, it was a great experience that took about 6 months from start to “finish”. For most, the average seemed to be about one to two years, so I’m thankful for the speed we were able to get great candle solutions to our community and beyond!
